Anthony Chan is the Chairman of Scitech Group, a private family real estate development and investment company based in Beijing. The company focuses on downtown CBD mixed-use developments in North China with current gross floor area of approximately two million square meters.
From 2006 – 2013, Mr. Chan was the Executive Vice President of PCD Stores Group Limited (HK 00331), a leading high-end national department store chain in China where he was responsible for overseeing strategic planning and business development. Starting as a small family owned chain in southeast China with four stores in 2006, Mr. Chan helped oversee the growth of PCD into one of China’s largest high-end department store companies with a footprint of over 20 stores in 10 provinces and which was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2009. In 2013, PCD was acquired by the state-owned Wangfujing Group for HK$5 billion.
Mr. Chan is also Managing Director and co-founder of Vega Properties Limited, a real estate private equity investment company that invests in Chinese real estate. Mr. Chan also serves as a member of the board of directors of Arocrest, an investment holding company with assets in Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and India.
Mr. Chan is active in a number of philanthropic endeavours including acting as the Vice Secretary General of the QSL China Youth Federation Sports foundation, whose aim is to promote the development of athletics in underprivileged rural area schools, and is an officer of the Beijing Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization.
Mr. Chan has held prior positions at Bain & Company, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and Credit Suisse First Boston. Mr. Chan earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Business and received his Bachelor’s degree (double major in economics and government), magna cum laude with distinction in all subjects, from Cornell University, where he was the recipient of the Kasdan Montessori Peace Prize.
